Articulate Storyline - Can you swap images on base layer?
I have created multiple storyline simulations for our software product and invested a lot of time getting everything to work as intended (triggers, transitions, etc.). Like most software, it has recently undergone a User Interface update. So now the content needs to be updated to reflect the new UI. What I am trying to do is swap out the base layer for each slide in my project. The software UI looks different via colors and fonts, but functionality has remained the same (meaning hotspots won't move, callouts remain the same, etc.). is there a way to swap out only the "image" on a base layer so i don't have to recreate each project? If not, what is the best way to accomplish this. In my mind, in a project with 20 slides, it's 20 replacement images - avoiding the need to re-record and edit every single item on each slide. Thank you to anyone who can help. New user here and trying to find the most efficient way to do this.

Thanks CynthiaLevins. Just checking that I've explored all my options before recreating. I appreciate the response!

Thanks CynthiaLevins. These were inserted as Try It Mode slides, and I can't seem to access the video editor. Would you know if that is because they are "try it" slides and not a typical video inserted on a slide? You are a lifesaver, I appreciate the info. I've been going crazy all day trying to figure this out.

Yes, try mode breaks the video down differently. You would probably spend more time editing than just recreating in try mode.

That's exactly why. Unfortunately, the editing options are limited with screen recording. You can replace the screen recording in the video editor.

I may have a dumb question. But this was created using the "record screen" feature. Is that why i am not seeing an "image" to replace? In this example, I would want to replace the Word background with an image. Again, I appreciate everyone's help. I am brand new to . I am just making sure I can easily replace their backgrounds.

Another option is to select the image, and use the Replace Picture option on the FORMAT ribbon.
As noted above, this works for an individual picture (not a group).

Might sound silly but hard to troubleshoot without seeing it in person. Is that image apart of a group of images? If not, you may just have to left click the image first and then right click it to populate the correct list. As long as the image isn't locked, the option should populate. Not sure if that image is apart of your master slide, if it is, you'll have to go into the master slide and right click from there.

Thanks Eric and John for the quick responses! I feel like I must be missing something, because I was thinking I should see a replacement option. I have tried three different ways, but don't see "replace picture". Three places i checked are: from the image on the canvas, from the Timeline screen record, and from the Slide Layers "Base Layer". This is what I see. Any thing else you can think of? much appreciated.

Hey Dana, you should be able to right click the image, and select "replace picture" from the dropdown options. Then just upload the image you need to replace. Hopefully I understood your request correctly and this helps! Take care.

As long as you have the original story files you should be able to go in and change any images that need updating. I had the same issue 2 years ago with a software update and changes to how thigs looked.
Good luck
